Electronic Game Design: Platform Games (ages 8-14)
Sure, your child PLAYS video games, but are they ready to CREATE their very own platform game? A platform game is a side-scrolling, Mario-type game where students program characters and a two-dimensional obstacle course. They attempt to avoid or overcome enemies and reach an end goal on multiple levels. At the end of the class, students will be sent a copy of the game they create!
(In Person) Mechanical Engineering: Master Machines (ages 8-14)
During the Mechanical Engineering program, students use the Engineering Design Process to design, create, test, and refine a variety of machines and mechanical systems. Students learn basics of fluid mechanics, simple machines, and other design and engineering concepts while constructing roller coasters, egg-drop vehicles, and an incredibly fast air powered dragster they keep at the end of the course.
(Virtual) Robot Olympics (ages 8-14)
Robots go for the gold! In this class, students will program virtual robots to compete in various events. We will learn how to use different sensors and actuators in concert to complete tasks. Eventually, the students will configure and program their robot to compete in a sumo wrestling match. No prior experience is necessary.
