Squads forming for ages 10-12!
(Nine Courses Available)

Game Design 101: JavaScript Side Scroller (Chromebook-friendly)
Dive into a platformer where code, a level editor, and problem-solving skills make you the master of all that you see. You'll solve puzzles and challenges related to the game. If your character needs to jump higher to overcome an obstacle, you can code that in! If you need platforms to cross an uncrossable gap, you can add those yourself! By exploring an already working game, you'll be able to make it your own, and as your JavaScript gaming and coding skills increase, you'll see more and more ways to edit everything until it's all your creation. Modding meets coding and platformers in this make-and-break-things adventure.

  • Use JavaScript code to create game mechanics

  • Use level design skills to create unique challenges

  • Practice game design principles with engaging activities

Game Design 102: Custom Sprites (Chromebook-friendly)
A big part of game design is the look and feel created by the art assets. Leave your mark on a JavaScript game that’s already built by designing all of the assets, from platforms to characters, and everything else in the game! If there’s a menu, an item, or an enemy, it’s yours to design and tinker with. Then you’ll be able to press play and design levels to see your art in action. You can learn more about JavaScript or focus solely on the artistic side, knowing that when you’re done you’ll have a great base to show everyone your art. Make the game look however you dream it should.

  • Create 2D game art assets

  • Edit and design player and enemy characters

  • Practice game design principles with engaging activities

Virtual Robotics: Artificial Intelligence (Chromebook-friendly)
Smash into virtual walls to tear down randomly generated castles, teach a robot to become the next Picasso, or navigate labyrinths with a virtual VEX robot. With Scratch coding blocks, you'll drag and drop commands to learn AI and computational thinking. As you gather data from sensors, respond to input, and complete challenges that test your skills, you’ll spark a lifelong love of problem-solving—and the joy of wreaking robotic mayhem in a safe, virtual environment.

  • Program robotics with graphical code blocks

  • Code virtual robots to crash into obstacles

  • Navigate a maze with code

  • Teach a virtual robot to draw a picture

Roblox Obby Club: Floor is Lava!
Get your squad together and get down to Obby business. The floor is lava, the platforms are filled with fire, and there’s only so much time before the explosions begin! Every day, you'll try to beat a new Obby and a new challenge. You’ll play, escape, and then turn to creation—making your own levels and adding your favorite features, obstacles, and mechanics. With Roblox, there's no need to go it alone. You'll grab your classmates (fellow Robloxians) and your instructor to build something together with Team Create.

  • Create and publish games to the Roblox website

  • Develop and design an Obby

  • Learn game design fundamentals

  • Work with Lua scripts

Minecraft Game Club: SkyWars
The world of Minecraft becomes much deeper when you play with other people. Survival mode is great, but multiplayer servers bring more game types, friends, and possible interactions. Learn to find, connect to, and play on multiplayer servers. After you’ve connected, your Squadmates and instructor can play games like SkyWars. When you’ve seen what makes those games the most exciting, you’ll learn how to use built-in Minecraft features like redstone or command blocks to build features inspired by those mods yourself. Whether you design a waiting room-style lobby with fun parkour challenges or build more interactions, you’ll discover how multiplayer maps can add a new dimension to the game.

  • Connect to multiplayer servers

  • Build redstone circuits and machines

  • Utilize command blocks to enhance maps

  • Develop planning and design skills

Roblox Game Club: Story Games
Get your squad together and tell your story. Whether you want to create a character who breaks the news that yes, you do have to travel up that dangerous mountain and across rivers of fire to pick up something they dropped, or if you want to bring to life an all-knowing guide to help you find what you love most in the world (probably alpacas, right?) you can make it happen in Roblox. Learn all about how characters can be made to talk, respond, or tell you what needs to be done. No longer will you jump across dangerous chasms without knowing why—you’ll write the story, and in Roblox, you’ll show and tell players what to do.

  • Create and publish games to the Roblox website

  • Develop and design an Obby

  • Learn game design fundamentals

  • Work with Lua scripts

Minecraft Game Club: Bed Wars
In Minecraft, you’ve got to keep your bed safe, or you can’t respawn! So go to bed, wake-up, respawn, and continue in your quest to be the only Minecrafter on the map who can sleep. When no one else can wake up warm and comfy, you’ll be victorious. Minecraft is fun to play, but it’s best when you make it your own, creating, breaking, and changing the game so it's more meaningful to you. With the power of command blocks and other Minecraft features, you'll get together with a squad of new friends and play some of your other favorites! Between your rounds of exploration and play, you'll build features and areas inspired by the mini-games you love that make Minecraft so great.

  • Connect to multiplayer servers

  • Build redstone circuits and machines

  • Utilize command blocks to enhance maps

  • Develop planning and design skills

Minecraft Mod Club: Custom Mobs with Java
Design better dungeons with big, buff mobs, friendly mobs, and more! Get on the train to mob-town, and level up your mob spawning and planning game by creating a skeleton that can ride a polar bear...and use a pole-arm and sword at the same time! You'll give adventurers who delve into your map something to fear—and something to look forward to! Then using Java code, you can customize mobs even further, creating zombies with new stats, changing their textures, or tweaking settings so that familiar enemies seem fresh and new. Now is your chance to create something that no Minecraft player has ever seen before!

  • Create custom Minecraft mobs

  • Use variables, functions, and control structures to customize Minecraft

  • Code in Java

  • Develop logical thinking and problem-solving skills

Animation Studio: Character Design
Dive into animation, character design, and drawing, getting a running head start by creating your own 2D character. You'll modify a base-rig by drawing all the parts of your character—their face, expressions, arms, bodies, and even shoes or stylish outfits! Then, use Adobe Animate to bring them to life, giving them actions and making animated shorts. You can share your characters with your Squadmates, and make stories together with everyone!

  • Design and draw unique characters

  • Practice animation in Adobe Animate

  • Practice visual storytelling through concepts and planning

  • Develop animated shorts
