Alcohol Ink Plates and Tiles
Discover and explore how Alcohol Inks can be used. Alcohol Inks are vibrant, translucent and very forgiving! Investigate how this medium can be used by making your design completely abstract or more realistic by painting! Make your beautiful set of our tiles or two plates for your one of a kind art work. The inks are applied to the non-porous surfaces such as glossy tiles and plates by manipulating the inks. The inks are moved and floated by using rubbing alcohol, blending solution and air to create unique designs and texture. These plates are for decorative use and once sealed can be used other than for decorative purposes. Tiles can be used for decorations and coasters. All supplies included.
Gyotaku Japanese Fish Painting
Gyokatu originated in Japan during the mid-1800's as a method for fisherman to record the exact size and species of their catches. It is believed to be a way of brag worthy catches with fisherman later adding more artistic detail as the practice grew in popularity. They used non toxic sumi ink to one side of the freshly caught fish in rice paper and rub to create an exact image of the fish then it could be processed for eating!! Goytaku is now considered a unique delicate art form used to capture the beauty of marine animals. In this two hour workshop you will print and create two fish prints from whole fish as you discover the beauty of the animals. You will creatively add color to one print and leave the other print as traditional black. We will be using ink as well as acrylic paints. All supplies included
