Have you ever wanted to make your own soap but felt hesitant about working with lye? The world of soap making is a wide and creative craft, and many people are surprised to learn that there is a method that requires no lye handling at all. Melt & Pour soap making offers a safe, approachable, and enjoyable way to create beautiful handmade soaps.
In Design Your Suds, participants will learn:
- the fundamentals of melt & pour soap making
- the different types of melt & pour soap bases
- how to accurately measure the soap base using grams and ounces
- how to work with colorants, botanicals and fragrance or essential oils
- why temperature control is essential for achieving smooth pours, clean layers, and professional-looking results
All class materials and necessary equipment are provided and included in the registration fee.
Participants are encouraged to bring an apron and tie back long hair for comfort and safety.
Please note: Melt & pour soap requires several hours to fully set. For best results, soaps should remain undisturbed overnight. Arrangements will be made for participants to pick up their finished soaps the following day.
Participants will explore a variety of design techniques and create three handcrafted bars of luscious melt & pour soap, each reflecting their own creative choices.
Safety Note:
This workshop involves working with warm soap bases, fragrance oils or essential oils, and may include ingredients derived from nuts. Participants with known allergies or sensitivities to fragrance oils or nut-based ingredients are advised not to participate in this workshop. All activities are guided, and basic safety practices will be reviewed at the start of class.
What to Expect:
This is a hands-on, creative workshop with step-by-step guidance (handout). Participants will work at their own pace, experiment with color and scent, and leave with a clear understanding of melt & pour soap making techniques.
No prior experience is required.
