Alterations I:
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to perform some of the most common clothing alterations, including:
Hemming by hand and machine (including jeans)
Taking in or adding darts and adjusting side seams
Sewing on buttons, snaps, and hooks
Repairing and patching denim
During Alterations I, we’ll work on sample fabric to practice each technique. A basic understanding of machine sewing is required. If you're new to using a sewing machine, we recommend taking our Intro to Sewing class on October 26 to build your foundational skills. Bring your own machine; all other materials will be provided.
Alterations II:
In this follow-up session, you'll apply the skills learned in Alterations I to real garments. Bring in one or more items of clothing that need any of the following:
Hemming (including keeping the original denim hem)
Sewing buttons, hooks, or snaps
Taking in or letting out seams or darts
Adding darts for better fit
Patching or repairing denim
This is a great opportunity to give new life to your clothes with guided support!
Bring your own machine; all other materials will be provided.
*Please note that cancellations will not be accepted, as the instructor has already pre-purchased supplies for the session.*
