Art with Heart Senior Watercolor class is back!  April through October - NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED.Each project is drawn on authentic watercolor paper and suitable for framing.  The same fun class as last year, but now you get to choose what you want to paint.  20 different projects to choose from.  Each guest will have their own setup with paints, brushes and everything needed to complete the project.You will sign your masterpiece and leave with a handmade gift to keep or give to someone you care about.  This is strictly for creative fun! Get ready to sculpt fabulous creations with clay! Artists will score, slip, and join natural clay to create many decorative and functional objects they can later paint, decoupage, or seal (in the following week's class). Projects may include a pencil holder, magnets, a trinket box, and more. This class focuses on teaching the rules of chess and how the pieces move, in addition to describing chess using correct terminology. Students learn how chess increases critical thinking and pattern recognition skills and are provided a historical overview of the game. Students learn basic concepts about the three phases of the game of the opening, middle game, and endgame. Instructional exercises include checkmating patterns, introduction to basic openings, and strategic and tactical goals of the game. By the end of this course, students learn how to play a game of chess and record it using chess notation.Instructor: Jared Groder

Art Goes to Japan is a creative, cultural art series that introduces students to traditional Japanese art forms through hands-on exploration and play. Young artists will discover the beauty of ink, paper, water, texture, and nature while learning about Japanese artistic traditions and techniques. Projects include: Sumi-e — Japanese ink painting using expressive brushwork and simple natural forms where you can grind your own ink! Gyotaku — the traditional art of fish printing (replicas - not real animals) Suminagashi — “floating ink” marbling created by swirling ink patterns on water Momigami — a Japanese paper-texturing technique that transforms paper into soft, wrinkled surfaces for collage and mixed media art (uses plant oils and lotions) Chigiri-e — torn paper collage art using layered handmade and textured papers to create expressive images and landscapes Students will experiment with movement, observation, and composition while creating unique works of art inspired by Japanese culture. This class encourages creativity, mindfulness, and curiosity in a fun and welcoming environment.
